Who do we select to join a Self Build association? However much an individual may want to take part, they have to consider the requirements of the rest of the group. D. & O. Management Services Limited have a duty to everyone concerned to produce a functioning, balanced team. We carefully choose and retain control over the group members to make sure the Self Build works to everybody’s benefit.

· Can I devote almost all my spare time for 8-12 months to one project?
· Am I prepared to work regularly every weekend and two weekday evenings on the site?
· Is my wife or partner prepared to match my effort and cope with home life without me there?
· Have I got the determination to see it through?
· Am I physically capable of heavy labouring work?
· Do I have limitless patience?
· Can I work with personalities different from my own?
· Am I good at team work?
· Do I fit into a team of at least 70% experienced tradesmen with a wide age range?
· Have I qualities to offer the group?
· Am I prepared to do general labouring whatever my own skills?
· Am I prepared to accept team leadership by others?
· Am I prepared to be fined for not meeting the group’s rules and regulations?
· Will I work equally hard on others’ homes and work to a pre-agreed scheme?
· Am I prepared to accept a plot on a site allocated by ballot?
· Will I accept a standard house design and not want to add expensive, time consuming extras to my own home?
